HISTORY

Fraternity History

Beta Upsilon Chi was formed at The University of Texas at Austin in the spring of 1985 by a handful of Christian men who desired an alternative to the present fraternal lifestyle. A group of Christian men met and planned the “BYX Island Party” to formally announce the fraternity’s founding. It was the vision of the founding fathers to have a fraternity of committed Christian men, based on the unique brotherhood that a Christian atmosphere affords, for the purpose of fellowship and glorification of Jesus Christ. Through such events as parties, service projects, and evangelical outreaches, the charter members of Beta Upsilon Chi chose to unite in fellowship and glorify Jesus Christ on the University of Texas campus.

Chapter History

In the summer of 2016 at a Sky Ranch camp, the idea of bringing BYX to Ohio State was first introduced to Griffin Rea by Alex Rodriguez, a former pledge captain and president of the Psi Chapter at LSU. Through their connection, Griffin felt called to be in BYX in college. After choosing to attend Ohio State where no BYX chapter existed at the time, he began to seek out other men who would join him in founding a chapter. Over the course of three semesters, God stirred the hearts of twelve additional Christian men who decided to come together to become the Alpha Omega chapter of Beta Upsilon Chi.

Founding Fathers

The founding fathers of the Alpha Omega Chapter are… Bryce Allen, Andrew Batarseh, Jeremiah Fitzpatrick, Trent Marean, James Miller, Joshua Mitchell, Sammy Myers, John Nguyen, Ben Parillo, Griffin Rea, Blake Ryan, Joseph Shih, and Charlie Woolson.
